Mafalda Prewett (born 1983) was a witch who attended Hogwarts School in the 1990s. She was the daughter of Molly Weasley's second cousin (most likely a Squib) and an unnamed Muggle mother.
Mafalda was born in 1983 to an accountant-unknown father and a Muggle mother. Although her father, a Squib, was an estranged second cousin of Molly Weasley (née Prewett), he did not expect to become the parent of a witch.
Mafalda started at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry on 1 September 1994 and was sorted into Slytherin house. In her second year, she saw Malcolm Baddock in the third-floor corridor and asked about him there. Still, he revealed to her that he guarded the stone, which at first shocked Mafalda because she said that he bit Snape as Fluffy once and then made friends with her after saying it was meant for Harry, Ron, and Hermione. Then, Malcolm introduced her to his other friends: Draco Malfoy's gang. The worst part was watching Ron chase Mafalda and Malcolm for stealing his perfect badge at lunch. In her third year at Hogwarts, Horace Slughorn taught Potions. Slughorn said she was brilliant, always with the answers at his fingertips. She was as smart as Hermione Granger. In 2017, Christmas holidays, Mafalda received a visit from her father's paternal estranged family.
She was an estranged member of the Weasley family for many years because her father had been very rude to Mr. and Mrs. Weasley in the past, but now he and his (Muggle) wife had inconveniently produced a witch, and they came back to the Weasleys asking for their help in introducing her to wizarding society before she started Hogwarts. The Weasleys agreed to take her for part of the Summer, including the Quidditch World Cup, but regretted this almost immediately. Mrs. Weasley suspected that Mafalda's parents simply wanted to get rid of her for a while because she turned out to be the most unpleasant child Mrs. Weasley had ever met.
Goblet of Fire
Mafalda conveys certain information about the Death Eaters to Harry, Ron, and Hermione when she would have been to eavesdropped on conversations held between the children of Death Eaters in her house, then repeat what she heard to The Trio to impress them.
Deadly Hallows Part 1 or Part 2
After Trio escapes, Mafalda stays behind, and Carrow's siblings almost torture her to tell where Trio is; however, she never told or knows where they are.
Personality and traits
Mafalda was a rather unpleasant individual, even to her parents. She liked to impress and show off as much as possible. She was also very nosy, eavesdropping often (even if this included breaking the rules), and was very loud-mouthed, prone to gossip.
Whilst explicit details about Mafalda's magical talent are not known, it is known that she was generally a very gifted witch, rivaling even the overachieving Hermione Granger.
