The relationship between a Muggle-born, Hermione Granger, and a half-blood wizard, Harry Potter.

Hermione is one of Harry's best friends and his sister-in-law through their marriages to Ron and Ginny, respectively.

Harry (along with Ron) met Hermione on the Hogwarts Express in the 1991-1992 school year shortly after it left King's Cross. While Harry easily befriended Ron, he had trouble learning to get along with Hermione. However, after saving Hermione from a mountain troll around Halloween, she and Harry (and Ron) finally become best friends. They tended to get along very well daily, though Harry occasionally became annoyed by Hermione's nagging. Apart from this, Harry considers her to be one of the greatest witches of all time and doesn't care about her background as a Muggle-born witch. Harry could sometimes connect with Hermione when he could not with Ron; mostly because they were both raised in the Muggle world together. The only major fight Harry and Hermione have ever had in the series was around Christmas 1993, when she informed McGonagall about his new Firebolt broom being an anonymously sent one that Hermione suspected to be Sirius Black. Harry and Ron didn't talk to her for weeks until Hagrid chastised them for their unwarranted behaviour. This was enough for Harry to forgive her, as he realized she only did that to protect him.

Over the years, many people have mistaken Harry and Hermione for being romantically involved. Most of the characters, such as Ron and Dumbledore, notice how much time Harry has spent with her. However, Harry has always insisted they were just friends, even telling Ron that he and Hermione's relationship has been on the line of siblings instead.
